Hedge Fund Hires Spitzer’s Wife
by Paula Schaap ,Senior Reporter , November 24, 2008

Silda Wall Spitzer isn’t sitting around just being Eliot Spitzer’s wife anymore. She reportedly has a new job with hedge fund firm Metropolitan Capital Advisors.

Metropolitan Capital, a $400 million firm that was founded by CNBC “Fast Money” contributor Karen Finerman, has hired Spitzer to do capital fund-raising, according to a report in New York Magazine.

Someone who answered the phone at Metropolitan Capital confirmed to HedgeFund.net that Spitzer had been hired. Although she declined to give her name, she said, “We are thrilled to have her.”

A publicist for Spitzer did not return a phone call seeking further comment.

Before her husband went into politics in 1994, Spitzer was an in-house attorney with Chase Manhattan Bank. Before that, she was with corporate law firm Skadden Arps.

Eliot Spitzer’s career as a public servant, first as New York State Attorney General and then, as the state’s governor, came to a crashing halt in March when it was revealed that he had frequented a high-price prostitution service. He was forced to resign as governor.

That chapter appeared to be drawing to a close last month when the U.S. Attorney for New York City said he wasn’t going to prosecute the ex-governor.
