Alexandra Gets New President
by James Armstrong, Reporter May 11, 2007
Alexandra Investment Management announced on Friday it is hiring John Hock as president and partner.
Prior to joining Alexandra, Hock was head of global sales at fund-of-funds firm Tremont Capital. Before that, he served as senior managing director at Alpha Investment Management. He has also worked at Citi, UBS, and Oak Hall Capital.
At Alexandra, Hock will oversee the firm’s non-investment activities, including business development, client services, operations and strategic planning. He will work with Mikhail Filimanov, Alexandra’s chairman and chief executive officer.
New York-based Alexandra manages a global multi-strategy hedge fund specializing in event-driven and relative-value strategies. The firm was founded in 1993.
Two years ago, Alexandra was investigated as part of a probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission into possible wrongdoing with regards to private investments in public equities (PIPEs). Around that same time, the firm also sacked a trader, Slava Volman, for his role in an alleged pump-and-dump scheme.
