Hedge Fund Boss Koll Back at JPM

Former hedge fund manager Jesper Koll joined JPMorgan Chase as head of Japan equity research.

Koll headed Tokyo hedge fund Tantallon Research and is stepping down as its chief executive officer. In addition to running a hedge fund, Koll is a veteran chief economist who has worked for Merrill Lynch as well as JPMorgan Chase from 1994 to 1998. He also worked at Tiger Management for a year.

Koll, 48, was born in Germany and is fluent in speaking Japanese. He is married to Kathy Matsui, chief economist for Goldman Sachs in Tokyo. Koll is bullish on the country.

Bloomberg first reported on Koll joining JPMorgan Chase.
