A portfolio manager for Tudor Investment Corp. prized for his knowledge of China has taken a job at China Investment Corp., according to the The Wall Street Journal.
William Lu represented Tudor Investment in China. A college professor, Lu began working for company founder Paul Tudor Jones in 2004. Lu is versed in macro strategy, and worked out of Beijing as well as Greenwich, Conn., where Tudor Investment is headquartered.
His latest post with CIC, a $300 billion sovereign wealth fund, has brought Lu, born in China, back to his homeland. State-run CIC is building out a hedge fund program, which has so far invested $1 billion with The Blackstone Group and Morgan Stanley. Lu, hired to head the program, is expected to further expose CIC to the asset class.
CIC began its hedge fund program in 2007.
Paul Tudor Jones started Tudor Investment in 1980. The company has $11 billion under management. CIC could not be contacted for comment.
