Steven Cohen is investing in a hedge fund manned by his former employee.

SAC Capital will put an undisclosed amount with a fund run by Mike Corcell. Corcell worked for Cohen as a portfolio manager at SAC until June when he joined current employer RWC Partners.

RWC, based in London and managing $3.5 billion, said $500 million has been committed to the fund, a long-short equity strategy focused on the U.S.

Prior to taking a job with SAC in 2008, Corcell had worked for asset manager Threadneedle. At RWC, Corcell is joined by another ex-SAC staffer, Gabe Marshank, as well as Threadneedle alum Alex Roberts.

Earlier this month SAC, a $16 billion hedge fund headquartered in Connecticut, made its first ever investment with an ex-portfolio manager. SAC put an unspecified sum with Dorsal Capital Management. The San Francisco technology sector hedge fund is helmed by ex-SAC personnel Oliver Evans and Ryan Frick.

Cohen founded SAC in 1992.
