Milt Baehr – Mr. Baehr is a co-founder and
Director of Technology of Strategic Financial Solutions, LLC. Mr. Baehr has
over 35 years experience in the computer field, as well as over 25 years in the
financial industry. Mr. Baehr received his BSEE in Computer Science from Case
Institute of Technology in 1968. After
receiving his degree, Mr. Baehr shifted from software to hardware in order to
capitalize on the emerging mini-computer industry. As a consultant, he designed
integrated hardware/software solutions for a number of national accounts. Some of his projects included a chemical
control system for Dow Chemical, an inertial navigation system for the Navy and
a production control system for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. In 1969, Mr. Baehr
was recruited as one of the original team members for Data General Corp. Using his expertise to implement
mini-computer-based solutions for both business and scientific applications,
Mr. Baehr’s clients contributed significantly to Data General’s early success.
In 1972, at the age of 26, he formed Milt Baehr & Associates, a consulting
firm specializing in mini-computer technology. Completed projects included the
first Computerized Credit Card Printer and the first Electronic Automated Credit
Card Authorization System for MasterCard.
After years of success in his personal investing, Mr. Baehr followed his
passion to merge computer technologies into the financial world. In 1976 he
trained with Reynolds Securities, Inc. and, in 1978, joined E.F. Hutton &
Company, Inc. in Malibu California. During his ten-year tenure with Hutton
(1978-1987), he served as a Branch Manager and money manager, designing
artificial intelligence based futures trading systems, real-time option pricing
models, as well as a branch management information system. The structure of monthly futures statements,
used today by many leading brokerage firms, is borrowed from Mr. Baehr’s model.
Mr. Baehr founded The Derivative Management Group, Inc. in 1991. DMG provided investment management services
to institutions and high net worth investors.
The company designed and used real time and artificial intelligence
based software for the trading of S&P 500 Index Futures. As the Internet developed, DMG was one of
the original companies to host its own web site. He began initial development of PerTrac in 1995.
Donald C. Cacciapaglia – Mr.
Cacciapaglia is the Chief Executive Officer of HedgeFund.net. Prior to
joining HedgeFund.net, he joined PaineWebber in 1996 as Managing Director and
Chief Operating Officer. In addition,
in 1998 he started the Private Equity Group and assumed responsibility for the
coverage of Leveraged Buyout Firms and the Investment Bank’s Business
Development Group. Before that he was Chief Operating Officer of the Short and
Intermediate Trading Group at CS First Boston (1995-1996). From 1977 to 1995 he
held numerous positions at Merrill Lynch & Co., including Chief Operating
Officer and Senior Managing Director of Investment Banking, Senior Managing
Director of Global Fixed Income Research and Analytics and Managing Director of
the Western Institutional Region for sales and trading in San Francisco. He was
a Senior Analyst with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1973-1977. In addition to his degree from Manhattan
College in Economics, Don has an MBA in Finance and a Post Master Degree in Organizational Behavior from Iona College
Kim Avery – Ms. Avery joined Strategic
Financial Solutions in 2002 as a sales consultant focusing on commodity trading
advisors and web development services. She brings with her a wealth of
investment industry experience. Prior to joining SFS, Ms. Avery managed
AutumnGold.com, a company that provides e-marketing support services to
financial institutions. She provided capital introduction services for the
Medallion Fund from 1992 to 1998. Ms. Avery also has experience working with
managed futures and commodity trading advisors as a managing director of
Balfour Maclaine Portfolio Management, Ltd., and has worked with other
well-known alternative investment houses over the past 20 years. Ms. Avery is a
graduate of Adelphi University, where she received a degree in Business
Administration.
Brian Barney – Mr. Barney joined Strategic
Financial Solutions, LLC in 1998 as an administrative assistant. In 1999, he
became a key member of the technical support department. In 2001 he left
technical support to join the development team at PerTrac. He is now
responsible for programming and special projects, as well as the maintenance of
the company operating systems and web sites. Mr. Barney graduated summa cum
laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California,
Riverside, in 1995 with a degree in theatre.
Gregory
Carleu – Mr. Carleu
is Chief Technology Officer for HedgeFund.net. Previously, he co-founded
EquityWeb, and he has been a project manager for First Call. He received his
undergraduate education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Rajat “Raj” Datta – Mr. Datta has over six years
experience in information technology, including network and database design, configuration,
and administration, website development, application design and training.
Before joining Strategic Financial Solutions, LLC in 2001, he was the Assistant
Director of Technology for commodity.com, a web-based alternative investment
firm. While there, he assumed responsibility for the corporate website, as well
as the development, maintenance and upgrading of the firm’s network. Mr. Datta
is currently a member of the SFS development team, responsible for programming
and upgrading PerTrac products. He holds degrees in Commerce and Computer
Software Applications from Calcutta University, as well as a B.S. in Computer
Information Systems from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Meredith Jones – Ms. Jones joined Strategic
Financial Solutions in December 2001 as the Director of Market Research. In
that capacity, she is responsible for researching, speaking and writing about
alternative and traditional investments as well as developing and implementing
marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships for SFS. Prior to joining SFS,
Ms. Jones was Vice President and Director of Research for Van Hedge Fund
Advisors International, Inc., a global hedge fund consultant with $500 million
under management. There, she led a staff of ten research analysts in manager selection,
evaluation and ongoing monitoring. Ms. Jones conducted quantitative and
qualitative due diligence, onsite visits and portfolio construction, as well as
a number of other research functions. She graduated from Centre College cum
laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1993.
Steve Karsh – Mr. Karsh has 12 years of
experience in the investment industry, ranging from consulting to investment
management in both the traditional and alternative investment arenas. Prior to
joining SFS, Mr. Karsh was a principal in a third party institutional sales and
marketing firm, Redstone Capital Partners, LLC. He has also worked at such
prestigious firms as Fidelity and Cambridge Associates. Mr. Karsh is the head
of SFS’s publishing division, which focuses
on designing and producing marketing materials for a wide range of investment
industry groups including registered investment advisors, hedge funds,
commodity trading advisors, funds of funds, consultants, brokers and financial
planners. Mr. Karsh has a degree in Business Economics and Public Policy, as
well as an MBA from George Washington University.
Marc W.
Petrivelli – Mr.
Petrivelli joined HedgeFund.net in June, 2001 as a software engineer. He is responsible for developing web-based and database applications in support of manager and investor services. He received his B.A. in Computer Science and Biology from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.
John Pettit – Mr. Pettit joined Strategic
Financial Solutions, LLC in May, 1998 as the Manager of Information Systems for
PerTrac and related products. His responsibilities include developing new
features and software for PerTrac, guiding corporate development projects, and
making recommendations for new technology and services. Prior to joining SFS,
Mr. Pettit worked for Geocities, where he was responsible for database
optimization. He was also the founder of Destiny Technologies, a web site,
consulting and software firm. He is currently completing his B.S. in
Information Technology at the University of Phoenix.
David B. Snow – Mr. Snow is the editor in chief of HedgeFund.net and its affiliate site, PrivateEquityCentral.net. Prior to joining HedgeFund.net, he was editor of Buyouts newsletter in New York. David holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and did his undergraduate study at the University of California, San Diego.
